02 I have seen that happening while talking to people from various age group believe me even people who are not thinking of moving no offense to them but everyone has told me at least once that this thought came in that I want to go back there are objective reasons for which they couldn't and there are some people who who are in my boat now who are thinking of relocating or already relocated hello everyone welcome to another episode of DAC return before we get into this I just want to thank all the viewers and subscribers of the channel we have crossed a milestone which is 2,500 subscribers so thank you all for your viewership and support and today's for today's episode we have abishek abishek left to Canada for his PhD and he has been living in Canada
03 For almost 16 years he has plans to move back to India and I'm really looking forward to the discussion because he's very passionate about the relocating back to India and also who has a lot of experience living in Canada understanding the different Dynamics especially the Visa systems you know all the all the details there so really looking forward to the discussion with Abhishek with that welcome abishek to the show thank you so much thank you avinas for having me and I'll be I'll be happy to talk about my journey great so let's start with a bit about your background so you know what made you to move to Canada and how was the life in Canada you know for 16 years and why this thought about moving back to India started and what's your plan along those lines definitely so I have to go back
01 16 years back and I'll start start from there so I did my initial studies in India I belonged to Kolkata West Bengal and pretty much up my M's I studied in Kolkata I didn't leave the city to be honest okay and then after that I wanted to pursue higher studies and in those in those times I would say there was a huge craze of migrating to US and Canada particularly us and also Canada was catching up so I was in in in in those sectors and I always wanted to pursue higher studies I come from a field which was also developing then in US and Canada which is molecular biology cancer biology those kind of things so that was my starting point so I I was applying to different Universities at that time honestly I applied to us I applied to Canada as my friends say keep applying
02 And more the Maria and eventually it turned up to be that I landed up in Canada because I like the environment I the place the university the city and also the lab where I was coming in and it was a city I will mention that it was Calgary which is in the western part of Canada now it has earned a lot of popularity because of Tourism and the oil boom so that was Calgary where I came in so that was that was the starting point higher studies that's great so it was for the higher studies so how was the life in Canada for the last 16 years for you you know it has my life over 16 years has seen

44 Many shades so I would say if I have to break it up really when I started as a as a student it was a very student life kind of a perspective that I had all the challenges were typical student kind of challenges which are still present today so first of all it started with a culture shock then of course looking for good accommodation getting roommates and sharing the cost of the rentals this is a typical I would say war that goes on especially when people are coming from other countries than Canada definitely true for every Indian in fact you know you try to find a community and you share and from your own region likewise I also share apartment with my friends all of them came from different part of India it was a pretty Cosmopolitan living like we had people from South India North India so that was wonderful so that was the starting part we had our own struggles plus the
45 Academic pressure and more importantly the financial pressure at that time because we can talk more about in detail later because when you are a student you come here there are good portion of your fee which is not covered by the Canadian scholarship especially when you are on a student visa so we have to pay that difference and those structures have changed over years but overall the principles still persist so you have to always like study as a student at the same time keep thinking what kind of job should I do or should I do some odd job or what is the best way to save some money because you want to pay that fee and bear in mind you might have some liabilities for which you have to pay back or send money back to India so that was my entire Student Life mhm this was this was the start as you mentioned then it was followed by my post Student Life which was the job market different kind of job I got
45 Experience in different kind of job and then I moved out from the core industry got interested in health and business started my own business another kind of experience the Canadian business market and then slowly and steadily towards the end of 16 year as you were mentioning the thoughts of then then pandemic came and of course the business suffered it went through its own Dynamics and then slowly and steadily the thought of relocating to India came along so that that was my overall Journey was pretty versatile I would say yeah so have you been living in Calgary throughout the entire 16 years or have you moved around within Canada that's a great question so I was was traveling on and off but to be honest my entire academic period was in Calgary but in 2016 pretty much the Midway I moved to from from the west of Canada to the east of Canada I moved to Montreal which is in the province of Quebec so yeah I'm there there since
48 Like I'm in Montreal there since from 2016 that's great so I know you kind of touched about this I think starting of pandemic you know this thought of returning back to India occurred so maybe can you talk a little bit about the reasons why this thought came and why it's getting solidified and where you are in this part of the journey in terms of relocating back to India so
16 Again it's it's a long answer I would say the thoughts kept coming in of moving to India you know in the later life in my later academic life but at that time the B bance was more towards staying in Canada because that was more of an emotional thought that you know we are from India at some point we have to go back there was no clear rationale to go back to India or no clear plans you know you always try to settle here and try to accommodate with everything that you see here that you know that that kind of a mentality that let's stay here and let's try the best that kind of a mentality that you get but over years there there were challenges that came along along the process and as in in the 16e journey there are those challenges kept growing and from the very Indian mindset we have realized and that those are real
16 Challenges and you have to acknowledge that you cannot win over them in most cases or in lot of cases you know it's not like since you are here you you you are Universal you can manage everything and because they are challenges psychologically when you are falling off the first emotion that kicks in is oh I was better in India or what if I go back to India if the aspirations are sometimes not met you you this feeling comes in that feeling of roots comes in that I can probably be better with my friends larger Community speak a similar language so I think that was that was my case too and I have seen that happening while talking to people from various age group believe me even people who are not thinking of moving no offense to them but everyone has told me at least once that this thought came in that I want to go back there are objective reasons for which they couldn't and there are some people who
17 Who are in my boat now who are thinking of relocating or already relocated oh definitely I mean I can correlate to that right any migrant you know from India the the thought is always like maybe after studies or after 5 years of education I mean after 5 years of career you know these things keep postpone postponing but at the same time this thought occurs because once you get some kind of an experience whether it's the different culture or you know from a career perspective or from education the thought of like can we go back to India occur you know whether it's a rational decis whether they're emotional all these things come into picture but the thought definitely arises after few years because the social fabric is different between these two countries the opportunities are different you know it's different Dynamics depending on what's the key priority for you at a given stage of your life that how you can determine it but to your point yes the thought always occurs to a migrant you know what about you know moving back to India so I know you
19 Kind of touched about this so this thought kind of getting solidified more later you know in the years so yes can you talk a little bit about the plan when I talk when I say planning there are a lot of categories in it right you know from a career perspective financial planning you know which place to locate to and so on right so anything that you can touch on on the planning of rning back to India from your perspective that you wanted to share you know with the fellow I mean from Canada it has its own differences compared to us or Australia or something so there are some other nuances so definitely anything that you can specify on that that would be even fantastic so can you share some of those insights or some of the plans that you are thinking through as you think thinking about this transition definitely I can again it's a very long and dynamic process if I have
14 To be very blunt about it it was it was never a very clearcut picture but I'll tell you the day I decided I spoke to my wife I'll talk about those points more clearly how that psychology developed that decision making process was very quick H but the overall development was somewhere having within us we never talked about it but somewhere we were thinking in you know in the same line and I'll tell you what what factors actually led to this decision I think that's the question you are asking you know as I was growing in Canada Canada was also growing and so is India and I have to admit today very openly that the India that I left in 2008 and that the India that that I'm forcing today where I will be in few months they are very different India I would say on a from a positive standpoint India has become more Divergent more accepting economy has opened up so for
14 Example like when I go in the past years when I went for vacation or when I talk to my friends and other family members in India when I talk about Canadian Goods the first thing that I hear is oh I don't need them I get it in my neighboring Mall so that idea that this is a foreign good or a foreign brand has completely you know gone ay India has pretty much everything every brand many businesses are relocating to India or they're relocating their warehouses for good reasons so that was something in my subconscious that this is happening the second thing that probably significantly propelled me in this direction that there was a time after pandemic when I was seeing the struggle that was going on in India and no offense again India's struggle towards against covid-19 was a very different struggle because of the population we cannot even imagine that you know every the whole world struggled but the kind of struggle the India went
15 Through first it messed up everything then slowly and slowly things started getting organized that Journey was like it played havoc in the Indian minds and at that time I was pretty much thinking of starting my business here the small business that I want wanted to my business Incorporated a lot of elements which are also which also has their roots in India so I was actually working and one one of the interest that I developed over the years is the interface of Science and spirituality and what I realized that people here are you know yoga is like it has become a fashion statement now which is wonderful but the problem that I was seeing that people are doing y without understanding the core value of what is a yogic theory which which actually is very much integrated into the land of India whether you call it India or patanjali yoga Sutra that's the idea but I was seeing that it's getting more fashionable and the real message is not
16 Getting conveyed but it has its benefit of course some people are doing great work so I joined the force and I like I thought and my wife also came into this picture we we both have a science background and we thought of why not Propel this this is an Indian thought but we can also speak the other language of science and health benefit because we come from that field and let's do something for the mankind for the community because the troubles here are no less although we we see it from a perspective of developed countries but there are a good amount of population for for them affordability is an issue Healthcare is an issue so they struggle a lot alternative medicine is is rising up in in in the Western countries as well so we start Ed this and as I was doing it a secondary thought was coming into my mind that if I'm doing it in this country I can do it in a bigger scale in my country because the troubles are greater you know even if I do good or teach one Asana to one particular individual that thought always kept
16 Coming in because I'm already seeing my friends and families and extended members struggling that I could have helped them I could have helped them this thought kept coming in and also with the kind of work that I was doing I got more interested into the nonprofit sector or the developmental sector of India which was also which is also developing in India my whole interest went in that direction for which the scope here in Canada is definitely limited compared to India so those those are the factors positive factors so far which actually catalyzed my decision that now it's time to go I think this is the I'm in the best Zone to take the decision and move okay that's great I think you know thanks for explaining that what made that concrete decision about idea to action right I mean in terms of making the move so you kind of touched on these reasons the specific reasons and the the topics there have you considered anything
17 From like is this a long-term plan or is this something that you want to try and see how it works you know also like from a and the reason I'm asking this is maybe from a fall back back right have you considered something in a fall back like you know from your citizenship in Canada or like maybe some other option you know because you have these ideas and thoughts and you are planning to make that Journey so just curious has that thought went into your decision process or you're pretty much or good to go like this is what I want to do and moving forward so maybe the question is more about like the status in Canada like you have any fallback plans to come back if something doesn't work out or you have pretty much decided this is the journey that you want to take
03 On okay that's again a great question and and I'll give you a you know diff different as there are different aspects to this answer so first is the Practical man speaking and then is the emotional man speaking I won't use the word patriotic in any form but I would use the word emotional man who is connected to the roots yeah so let's let's come to the Practical answer first talking about fallback yes from that perspective if I'll go if things doesn't work I can always come back the way I have thought about the process and I would from my experience this is a message I would like to share with everyone who who is watching this that rather than we always think of taking an action and falling back it's like an elastic phenomenon I would say rather than thinking in that manner if you are a Beholder of an international or or rather if you have if you belong to a country if you're a citizen of a country which gives you a stronger passport as we say or whatever it's better to think in a more Divergent
05 Way that I'll go to India if thing doesn't work I'll go somewhere yeah I have rather kept the focus of my work as the top priority rather than the country and I'll tell you why I said this first of all I have freedom to travel that was on my cards a number one thing even within India like you know it's in one lifetime I have heard from my childhood that people cannot cover entire IND which is still true if I can manage to see 40% of of the subcontinent I'm done with this life so that's my core ambition but saying like to answer your question there are reasons I'm considering if things doesn't work God forbid I will try to walk my way through some other Nation I'm not very keen to say that you know my mindset is not like I'll come back to Canada and do it of course Canada is added to my baggage I will have my friends and network here we can do collaborative thing but my ideology and depending on the economic Market of Canada now I cannot say that
09 In 10 years 15 years I can come back because I land up in a similar kind of a soup based on the inflation and I'll I'll mention those points separately there are different factors in Canada which will not definitely get better in another 5 to 10 years they are actually going on the other side and people are realizing it who are staying in in Canada so that's the Practical answer there is a fallback plan but rather it's a fall ahead plan I would say than yeah and second thing is the emotional person speaking now who is connected to the roots which is see for first of all in this 15 years 16 years journey I have realized that definitely I have missed the happy social part of India we all do as nris as people called but I I have attended more phone calls of people dying passing away in India relatives older people then the happy occasions so I belong to
09 A family where you know like people are way older than me I have a sister and I'm much younger so I the last person pretty much that's why I'm hearing all sorts of news I lost my father in this day in in Canada back in 2010 so I always felt these are the occasions I couldn't like I couldn't have been able to tackle in a good manner I was not been able to handle them in person with the with the fullest capacity rather than if if I could have been in Kolkata or in India things would have been different this thought always perpetuated that I can I could have helped people in difficult times and before after pandemic in 2019 around that time I was struggling on a separate line with my own health and I'll tell you something very very funny I I don't
00 I will say funny because I don't think a lot of people I have met have I I haven't found much people who have similar experiences probably they will we we will the audience will tell that yeah I was going through a lot of you know the postco depression kind of a face that was the I was making a new decision in that process it was the transition you know that dead zone from where you start rising up so I was going through a depressive phase despite starting the business and everything a lot of health hazards were coming in those are the kind of things and I fell ill to be honest I also developed diseases I also developed pre diabetes in that phase so one thing I was trying to do I was trying to get everything from the Canadian health care I was getting good amount of care but I felt at some point that I am becoming a puppet I am becoming a subject to experience mentation and guess work
00 Medical Science being a being a person from a scientific background and you know we had that thought that way back in 80s in India some doctors used to do that and we will avoid them but when I saw a similar thing is happening in a so-called developed country I was taken AB back and then I'll talk address the healthcare part separately but then I came across I was blessed to came across some wonderful people and all of them were from India who were parall helping me whether I talk about my like my dietician or whoever it is and you know they educated me in the whole process while I was having all my Canadian Medical Healthcare going on and what the one one one conversation I would like to bring bring up that I got to know from my dietician that you know I was not getting cured by the kind of food that I was having here although I changed my diet it was still healthy she mentioned something that you know your are
00 Indian you are more attuned to a dacy vegetable or a subi than a pound of broccoli you can still have it but we are not tuned to having avocado or broccoli for days after days after days because our genetics want some of the Indian stuff give something Indian to your body when I started doing it within few weeks or so I started losing weight I started developing a better system all my medical dependence thankfully become 0% no more dependence on medicine and the doctors I was also seeing the doctor here and they were like wow you're doing something incredible you know you are cured we don't know what to do but I knew at that point it it was actually an expansion of consciousness I would say that you know there is some magic lies out there which I couldn't find in a so-called more materially patterned country which is more developed technically so my whole understanding of
01 What is developed and what is not developed went completely you know it went to a different direction than what it was 16 years ago yeah that is a big push that told me that you know I have to for myself also I have to go to India my own health and well-being is very much suited for the Indian country of course there is Indian summer and everything no doubt but I my genetics is more suited for that and I think I am not doing good I cannot like you know treat it badly in the extremes of winter and so on this is completely based on what I am today based on my age today so this is a realization that came in yeah that's a factor also that played a part no no thanks for sharing that I think you know thanks for being open and be bold to share some of the things that you've gone through and how you came out of it and congratulations like you know that you're able to address these like with without like you know taking the medication with zero medication that's awesome and thanks for sharing that thank you thank you so much so I know you mentioned maybe we can touch
02 About this financial aspects right I think in the last 16 years you have seen the changes in Canada as well as in India you know you kind of touch a little bit maybe you can share some of the insights from your experience about on the financial side in in Canada like you know the inflation the things that you talked about how you see the future and also any planning that you're doing as a part of the relocation you know like the Pension funds that you might already have like some of the assets that you have how what's your thought process in terms of handling on those Logistics as a part of the relocation if you're open to share that certainly certainly I would like to
42 So from the financial perspective the main thing that I saw in these years in Canada is inflation so you know when I was staying here there was a point when I was thinking of buying a house a very very logical kind of thinking that comes in at one point but as we progressed we realize that in the past few years the housing cost skyrocketed so that's a very big thing in Canada right now if you look at the news that's the topmost thing that will that's one of the major drivers of reverse migration I should say inflation and the housing prices not just buying a house it's also the renting Market that is also being badly affected by inflation that's why Canada the the current government is giving a lot of push to low rental houses which are not the best houses though but again it will sustain some sort of family a lot of immigrant family likes to take refuge in
43 Such in such houses which is coming up but again they are not the best form of houses in terms of hygiene or location life is hard yeah so that's the reality that I have seen that again buying a house is difficult and I have been to many groups here where have have seen people who are second third fourth generation Canadian Canadian they are also thinking of moving out of the country I have many friends who are like I cannot really maintain the asset that my grandfather has left we have seen this kind of a scenario in India we see this often but this is a this is a situation here too they're selling off their huge property they're making up the money they they are taking the money and they are moving to a to a different country where they can probably have less fixed assets and have a more free floating life yeah that trend is coming in big time so that's one of that one of my factors I think to address the inflation part the second thing I would mention is the healthcare you know I it sounds ironical when we
45 Talk about healthare compared to US Canada has a much better healthare way better healthare but there is a catch to it and again I have seen this experience this and still experiencing this I would say when we say free
00 Healthare what people don't realize when they come here first time as a student it covers a big spectrum of your health no doubt about it not much of dental health dental is very expensive here but other part of the health yeah also not much of your medications most of the time your doctor visits are all free and medication is only partially covered the truth is you have to buy an insurance whether if you're a student you will get it from the University or if you're working in a company the company will provide you it will actually offset some cost but still the cost are high yeah now if you are healthy sturdy in early 20s life is great the moment you get into a chronic disease or a complicated Health Care system or a complicated disease manifests in you then things radically change because what Canada is suffering right now and this is a very very big problem not much covered in the media although there is the doctor is to Patient ratio is hugely
02 Fluctuating across the province Montreal is very bad in that Montreal and people know here so what is happening is now there are because of the PO Rising population there are more patients per doctor yeah so you know if here the system is in India if I have a headache I can run down to or go across the street and meet my uncle who is a doctor and tell him okay give me some pills I'm having a headache he will give you a dispirit that used to be the case 16 years back at least I think it's still somehow manifest but here if you have something or a needle prick or something first you have to go to the emergency you have to wait for an hour or two hours then a general physician will come and see you and they'll give you some medication and then allot you to a regular doctor who will again give you a medication and some sort of a certificate if you have a family doctor which takes some time after you come to Canada you have to then you can directly go to the family doctor but again it's subject to appointment you cannot just call them and say I'm coming at 6:00
03 P.m. today you know there is no you know there is no system like that but the third thing is when when the disease you are assigned a specialist here when you have some complicated disease when I say complicated I mean diabetes cardiovascular heart disease cancer psychological issues you know cognitive diseases then you are assigned a specialist by The Family Doctor you know in India again we can walk into a ideologist and say you know I want to do a Eco but here you cannot you have to go through a general physician and they have to refer you so that's a that's a time taking process you can keep adding the time Factor here in my story sure then you go to a specialist then there's a new kind of weight specialist is also seeing many patients I'm not the only patient and they will make you wait there I have seen a lot of people even now starting from covid they're cancer patients but they are waiting to get their chemotherapy wow and imagine for a cancer patients if you are expecting a chemotherapy in August sometimes the
04 Doctors will try to try to internally channelize it you know and if they cannot do it even the doctor knows you need a chemo radiation in August but you are lined up you will get it in October now think of the cancer itself that is manifesting inside the patients the person who is turning up in October is a completely different or a more devastated patient I would say that is a huge huge huge problem in the healthare that's scary you know that is a part which is not addressed by the free healthare part so as long as you are fit and fine the free healthare is extremely suitable for you the moment you go to the other side of the spectrum also the medications the more complicated they get a lot of them are not covered in the free healthare or in the regular insurance I have taken such medications many years ago which was not covered and which I can give you an idea these cost on an average in in the medical Market the standard prices start from like, to
04 $1,500 maybe per injection you know it's a pre-filled injection and these are strong medications insurance doesn't cover it because it's something very rare and if you have something a condition like this in your late student life or even student life that is almost half like you know that is part of your scholarship which you earn probably your monthly salary that's pretty much your monthly salary after tax or so and if if you if you are well covered student I would say if that entire money goes into buying a medication then what do you have at the end yeah so that's that's the reality that's the reality of the free health the word free healthare is kind of it's kind of a oxymoron you know you know so that's that's the reality behind I wanted to share it so this also actually factored in in my decision so just curious I know in Canada there is this public health system definitely I think the point that you already touched is that something that you also can have like a private doctors like you know can you have like a separate insurance is that an option available or not much I mean or is it so
06 Expensive that it's prohib you know it's not even feasible to you know consider that option just curious on that the private insurances the private doctors I'm not sure I I I cannot tell you exactly about that answer that's not that's a not very popular practice to be honest I haven't heard much whether you can have it I know that you always have to go through this skue of if you have a family doctor you can have a referral but again you are you will be treated as per the Norms of the medical regulations you cannot actually call the cards as a patient you are stuck in there talking about the insurance yes there are some insurance that you can buy privately of course your expense will go up the moment you have a private insurance you can have a better coverage like like what people do in India they get a medic claim and they pay more premium to get better coverage here also you can do it but again that's a pretty handsome amount of Premium that you have to pay rather than relying on the regular insurance that you are given from your job or as a student life but of course
08 Depending on the complication sometimes people have a regular insurance and a private insurance but again there is a catch here if you have both and you go to a medical store they will validate which one covers both you cannot actually reap the benefits of both sometimes they will say oh you have a private so we will try to channelize all the medications to the private you cannot get these these things in the regular insurance that you are getting to a third party so there are challenges and limitations to this so you have to think very wisely before you get a private insurance and understand what is the coverage what is it covering okay or preconditions you are having so yeah no thanks for sharing this you know some of the real challenges that people are going through in Canada right whether it's the healthare like you know the housing you know these are some of those important things at the end of the day when you are leading a life these are some basic needs that you expect because you know things are not the same like you are not fit and healthy all the time I mean these this is a very important for somebody to have like a in a good
09 Quality of life yes so I know you have made the decision to you know return back to India return to India so yeah have you decided on which place you want to move to like how did you go about it just curious how did you selected the location of of where you want to settle in India that's a great question you know
34 From my from my initial mindset from many years ago when I was not even considering the word returning back I always thought of coming back to my own Hometown which is Kolkata and there is a practical reason for it the Practical reason is you know in Kolkata I have my roots I have my friend Circle I have my Social Circle more on that I have my fixed assets so I want to I will have to take care of them or rather you know do something about it and then move ahead yeah I cannot simply put the responsibility on someone and say you know you manage and I'm a Canadian return person I will I will be sitting on a throne I cannot really do that I have to be responsible so that's why I never tried to bypass Kolkata moreover the kind of work and the mindset that I'm having now I the quest I'm having now the kind of work I'll be doing a lot of it focuses on on the geography which is pretty much in and around Kolkata or rather Bengal starting with
36 Bengal but definitely I do have plans to travel across India North and South but everything kind of you know the the epicenter is in Bengal or particularly in Kolkata so that's why I'm completely focused to go to Kolkata and then see what opens up again okay makes sense yeah cool is there any topic that we haven't covered in anything that you want to bring up with our audience today one thing I would definitely like
04 To mention to the general audience two things I would say the younger audience I'm particularly addressing or even the older experienced audience first of all if you're in the middle age or you are a student aspiring to come to Canada I would say definitely come to Canada because the Western exposure is fantastic you have wonderful academic institutions here phenomenal scientist and you know the liberal arts is very good the engineering is very good the stem faculty do come here so that's highly encouraging but I would also ask them to be mindful of the limitations and what is covered and what is not covered just to give an example this actually gives me a lot of pain for years now and it's it's something I did not mention so you know there is a glass ceiling when I talk about the education or the educational qualification I'm not sure about the US this is a very Canadian picture I'm giving you you know people come here and there is a setting they want to settle here and the first
07 Thing is the first Strat is they want to get their permanent residence of residency of Canada or the pr yeah that's the first tier and then the second tier is eventually they want to become a citizen the problem that happens is to become a PR you have to qualify you have to actually be eligible and you know you have to be qualified about C things education is one such parameter so every aspect of your life gives you certain points you fulfill the points then can you can apply this is the simple thing the point system keeps changing after a few years but the overall picture has not changed since I become a permanent resident so now the problem that I have seen that you know when people become a permanent resident all they are actually bartering with the immigration Canada is their qualification you know I am a bachelor you will get get a point if you're a MERS you will get some more points if you're a PhD you will get bigger set of points when I applied I was a masters and I was yeah I applied as a master so I got got a good
07 Amount of point and I was also in the PHD program so you know there was there was a sub quota for that the problem happens is when you are done with this immigration forget about the immigration now you're coming to the job market and now you're are saying I am a PhD from India my wife did her higher studies from India she's a PhD from India and now I have friends who are lawyers from India Engineers from India mbbs MD from India they have done their MD from top-notch places like jipmer pondicheri as you know so all these big institutes now when they're coming to Canada they are stuck for PR it's fine but the glass ceiling is you have to get a licensing exam or a equivalent Canadian experience exam otherwise you are not simply not recognized and that leads to a lot of people going to what what you call it the Outsourcing industry and that gives me a lot of pain I have seen qualified doctors Engineers lawyers very very educated people all
09 All across India and I won't say even India the India and the South you know the Southeastern South Asian diaspora India Pakistan Bangladesh all these people they're working in Outsourcing of Amazon they're working in Outsourcing of some big telecom companies because that is is their subsidence that is giving them a regular paycheck they cannot get into their own industry that is something I would say today youngsters the genzies are way more smarter that is something to keep in mind so I would say what I could have done better is plan ahead that after you get your degree what you're going to do if you have a broader aspirations if you want to take a chance be mindful of this rather than Simply Having a linear mindset or a linear planning because that might fail if people are not aware and in most cases people are not aware because the first dream that that gets fulfilled is I'm in Canada and the people are in the honeymoon phase for first few years then they start realizing this that the reality starts biting okay that is something I would
11 Like to mention the glass feeling of Education no thanks for sharing that I think it's very important for people who are considering to move to think not only the short term but it's a little bit long term is this something that they would love to do and it's so painful to see a qualified individuals not able to do the things that they are good at and instead they have to settle something which is not something that they love yeah so any other input that you want to share for people who are considering or planning to do you know return to India any advice or any input from your
50 Perspective one one advice that I would like to share is again first the smaller advice will be if if you're coming to India if it's a mindset that you have built up or anyone has has that mindset that's to be respected that's a very good decision and celebrate that and go to India and do something in India which makes you different also like try to whatever you have learned in a foreign country from whichever country you are migrating not just Canada try to bring that exposure to India because I think India will also boom from that aspect like I have learned something in a a in a country like Canada I want to take that to India this this this is I think will give a significant push to Indian economy despite the fact that India is rising now I think India always I would say India always perpetuated this thought I that reminds me of I cannot actually quot give the exact quotation but there is a saying where Swami vianda has said
50 That the real Rise Of The Nation will happen if the if there is a merging of the East and the West I still believe that you know whatever we are learning outside and elderly people have said that when we were young we used to hear this a lot from our grandparents that you know learn there get the exposure there but when you are coming back apply that thing and also mix it well with the Indian thing then life is beautiful I think that's one of the advice I would I would give and the second advice that I would share is to answer your question on this decision making I think you asked about the decision making part is this is not our own decision like my decision of moving to India is not my own decision it is also the decision of my family members in this case I'm talking about my wife so anyone who is deciding on this number one thing be very clear about your decision that you want to move don't shy away from that don't think much about the society what people will say trust your instincts
51 Talk to your family members first if you're moving in a group talk to everyone even kids yes everyone should be on the same boat because everyone are residing at the different parameter of a lifestyle whether it's education or Finance or job and the second thing is once everyone has decided start prepare preparing a Exit Plan that is something the day I started deciding of the move I created a dock on my computer I named it Exit Plan where I actually put bullet points that these are the things I have to check off when I'm moving out of Canada so have that and the last thing is it's a very happy decision no one should try to predict future by 100% it's there is no machine so far no time machine so far trust your instinct be happy about it and never to see this moving thing as a hindrance you know I don't know what my future will be like if I come to your interview after two years but at this moment I myself feeling very happy that I'm going back to the country that I've left 15 years back and there is a feeling that I could
53 Have taken this decision before but overall there is a intensity of happiness and positivity I would tell everyone to be in this Zone because that's the best thing that will make the process very very easy and less stome yeah I mean I I ago with you I mean I think this is a major decision and this is lot of people go through some anxiousness but believe in your instincts trust your instincts and make a decision and act on it so that's one aspect and the second aspect that you mentioned which I also want to underscore especially people who lived in abroad who has gained insights or experience can definitely benefit or you know provide that kind of mentorship or provide that insights to the people who are in India as a businesses or ecosystem to grow I mean I think that's definitely I believe in it and that's something that lot of value that can be added that helps as a community we can grow so completely agree and Echo with your thoughts on those two
