02 To some extent again I became the culprit like how I moved the entire family from us to India I was the one who actually was under severe pressure running the show there to tell you was it good bad ugly I would say mixed so that's great so that you have moved to India in 2007 I think you have a plan especially on your business side to expand it or scale it up in India and I think you have a an opportunity to you know build this offshore which is awesome and so how did the journey I think by the time your older one is like 10 years old or 11 years old 11 and then the younger one is like you know 2 years as you said so how did they transition and how was your journey for seven years you know lots of ups and downs lot of things so if you

02 Can share some insights how the kids like you know you had an expectation of the the smart sweetness you know from nages and you know you have some C to that you know what really happened and how they actually like you know U fit in within the education and you know like what they learned and how your career I know yeah if you can share I mean there's a lot of valuable information there beautiful question as a matter of fact if for some reason you had not posed this question I would have probed myself and then answered this because it matters a lot for people who are planning to go back return to India a beautiful wonderful motherland of ours so yes it mattered a lot because in addition to our career and our life almost being certain it's taken care What mattered the most was our kids life and of course their future because it's not easy for the kids who have being one born here or lived here during their good school days suddenly go to India because India still had a different schooling approach today to

04 Some extent actually thanks to the social media awareness Etc that was not the case those days whether it is the teachers or the fellow students they had to also adjust with my son arria my little one still had not gone to school yet so whereas arria was in sixth grade if I'm not wrong Arian had not gone to school Aran sorry where am I I mixed it up Arian my little boy had not gone to school Atria being 11 year old he was about to get into sixth grade and we had put him in DPS Delhi public school and K very good school so funny thing there was as you rightly asked ainash how did they go about it wasn't easy initially one my son took it for granted he thought the schooling would be almost at par with what us would conduct for him first first of all one of the biggest shocks is early morning prayers or rather the assembly which they have

05 Before the actual classes start and the tendency typically in India is the kids stand one behind the other literally literally almost touching each other whereas in the US the very practice of every kid has been given is from the world go they are being taught give space to each other whether it is 3ot distance or whatever little or arms distance Etc which wasn't the case as far as my son is concerned first day he reports to school they announce that like yes you all assemble and our man is actually trying to give enough Gap whereas the kid behind is getting jittery about it why why is he standing so far apart so without giving any notice he pushed him that was his first day experience so pushed him and he obviously Atria didn't know that like what was to be expected tripped and then fell on the nose so that sadly for him first day didn't go well but matter

08 Of time he figured out this is how it is to be done and he came back though we kept on we were curious as parent saying that how did your first day go he was hesitant to share 11year old child but when we insisted we saw a bruise on his nose we said that like what happened he said this is what happened so then we gave him a pat in the back saying that hey it is slightly different probably a child behind you didn't know as to why you are standing so far apart you will learn over a time period you can probably explain to him make friends with him tell him that this is how I lived back in the US and this is what happened so few days hence again the school started then he started getting used to new friends beautiful place whereas he came with an accent obviously unlike us we still hold Indian accent despite 27 years of Association to the US he still had that us accent when he was in India not many

10 Friends would understand or other classmates would understand for that matter even teachers didn't understand they thought that this fellow is trying to play smart or trying to every time when a math teacher is talking about or trying to pose a question this fellow knew the answer so typical of American s raises her hand every few minutes the teacher got irritated saying that like hey what are you up to first she was not as blunt as what I'm trying to say but she said that like I don't understand what you're saying Atria but why are you raising a hand every now and then what is that you want to say so he said that I have the answer for the question what you're posing so that is typical of American style where in US teachers have a different approach now it has changed it used to be different then so he learned it all in the process but yes yeah but I mean you know it is it is a lot of lot of learning and a lot of adjustment you know it is a one in in I mean just you know in hindsight

12 Yes a lot of things worked out but I think one biggest thing I would want to call out here is we made excellent friends you know I think today too we have a group it is our own you know it's not see our parents are older to us it's the earlier generation our kids are the Next Generation but always I feel that you should have a set of good friends Okay Hand who can connect to us who can connect who can talk we can talk about the same things and understand what we were very lucky I think that was as I said you know it was a reverse brain drain so we had lot of people in in our layout I mean we a combination of people who returned from the US returned from Canada and people who were in India in the it sector non it sector who were actually growing up they have done you know considerably well for themselves understood they were all like you know

12 These middle class aspirants you know who were trying to reach the next thing so it was like you feel you you're almost connected and you are like you know you're talking to them you understand you have different perspectives because today you know social media is there but still it's it's not about everyone will air their own opinions but it's good to have like you know four or five good families to connect and then try to understand this I think we really locked out there and kids not us kids also they had like okay a nice backing you know they were like same AG group friends like 20 kids of ARA's age 15 20 kids who they were able to you know kind of talk to each other relieve that stress out because give each other the confidence because one biggest thing is with Atria observed is that you know the the examinations right you know in India it's very different right the the exam everything gets done on one day you know like it's like man what happens if the kid is not well on that day right if the kides kid does not perform on that particular day

14 And you basically do something whereas here it is different you know every week There's a test every 15 days there is a review periodic things happen you have a 360° thing so for him it it and I to be very honest I think we put Atria both our kids through a lot of different things like this you know like he keeps telling me Mommy it's like a guinea pig right you know you tried me everywhere you know this this this this this this so I keep telling him it works in your favor right you know you should actually no having said that they were groomed that is where the street smartness comes into picture I'm going back to Pat my own back look look it it helped there matter of time Atria got groomed very very well got adjusted I think probably he enjoyed the most having gone to India one buil great connection beautiful connections family being closed grandparents taking care of them uncles aunts cousins friends fantastic

17 Neighborhood and school also matter of time got adjusted and then the same teacher who had objected him became one of his favorite teachers and then he became favorite student to her because they understood yeah again within no time he said wow great and there is a beautiful connection to it when he really moved forward in life it helped the India connect helped a lot but anyway this is what to answer your question kids were fantastic happy about it and we both had fantastic friends and great group to connect yeah amazing time I would say those seven eight years yeah that is right sounds like I think you know social life was awesome I think you had like you know the lifetime friends both on your side and the kids relationships you know it's been awesome so how has it been on the career transition you know you know with some expectations that you came and what was the reason again to think back to move again after seven years I know things are going smoothly is it just

18 Like you want a new challenge so just curious what made you to like move back but also maybe before jumping on that if you can touch a little bit on the career you know there are some ideas of before the moving in terms of the oh yes so maybe it would be worth you know to give some insights if you can and that would help like people who are in that I think one thing is the takeaway is yes kids became Street Smart even though there might be some other you know restrictions butes them so yeah curious on the career transition and what made you to consider to move back wonderful no obviously as you already know many factors really mattered a lot one the career kids life and this one so there to some extent again I became the was it good bad ugly I would say mixed I

19 Had all the three it was good bad and even ugly when it comes to my career I'll have rangan narrate her career front thing running a show in India today I'm sure it is different than what it was 10 15 years back for me it wasn't as straightforward to set up the shop in India I tried to replicate the same style of what I did in the US I must admit that I failed a bit there the reason is there is a different approach too when it comes to leadership when it comes to style of operating or working I did not function the way I should have and to that extent was it extremely bad all all along no there again I had fantastic colleagues there I had hired a good team it's just that certain bureaucratic challenges which I would not get into or delve into because of certain sensitive aspects to it that is

20 Where to some extent came as a stumble block as far as I'm concerned I did not but if I were to set up shop today probably and better equipped so that is where the things are maybe because I learned earlier they right dive dived into expecting that it is the transition would be same like what I would do in the US it did not it did not go the way I planned and matter of five six years then I started cribbing on rung and shoulder I think I think it is time rangan having tried this I want to go back to to America by keeping our connections on but there the beauty of it is now having come to the U in India to India we still can continue doing this much more often than what we did earlier wherein having tried the 7 because personally the life was fantastic whether it is great food wonderful weather back in Bangalore and friends as you as she rightly mention

23 Beautiful families around we wanted to have that going we didn't want to completely go disconnect and then return back to the US but I started pleading for about one year she was extremely upset she said what are you doing to me kids are happy here I'm enjoying my work and fantastic life here why are you doing this I said what do you do we still have juice in our life in terms of our career please U accept and then probably one last time let us go back and then see what is in store for us and in 2013 I returned in October she was extremely upset but let me I will say being upset she also encouraged me go let us see what happens one thing was like okay I mean for me you know one thing was like the kids the the kind of education what you get in the US right

25 Was like I was thinking that Atria okay he he was what was he in 12th at that time yes yes yes he was in 12th no no no he had already joined engineering Mone so he was so first of all figuring out what the child wants to do right it's it's a very important thing so and then you have your own job going on your own things happening so Atria I mean by that time had shown a lot of interest in mathematics and science and everything this was the time when a lot of things right in India you have this I you just you know study for IIT do this for bits and do this and that and everything yeah and then and then I remember very well the education policy in India they where they brought in different examinations for IIT instead of just like you know one go and everything so it was as a parent also it was very I mean I would say for us to even understand how this happens right

25 And then and then here and and also see having seen some things in the US which was good is like hey do everything practically right I mean they encourage for you to having you know talk to people doing a project experimenting versus just working on the concepts right so we had we were very clear because I remember we we made sure Atria participates in a lot of what is that competitive things for he he wanted to build out something for the NASA and everything so we always kept in touch in the US you know how things were happening and lucky for us was he decided to start a Aerospace he in school yeah he he was very very much interested in in Aerospace he he is today too but U so then the the the school also encouraged saying that okay you know why don't you start this and he anchored the group right and it's there's a lot of leadership thing which comes in you know it's just not about engineering it's about how do you Propel

27 People to come in and a lot of you know heads off to nages in that particular thing he he has taken a lot of time he's like okay you know if the kids come if they do this I will basically be the chairperson to take them to the US you know I will work with them you know because it really needs that person right you have to have you have to spend some time so he took you know a bunch of I think what 12 kids 12 kids from India to the US to the US they had they present Ed their white they presented a model where a space settlement project with in association with NASA and ISS that is International Space research organization they built sort of a space satellite program actually it was a wonderful experience because you know along Atria got this thing about presentation you know in front of 10 people how do you articulate it is nothing something which you know it

28 Doesn't it is not taught to you but it comes to you after sometimes when you start you know meeting people and then he met the first person who landed on the moon right he was there in the thing so you know all these things kind of you know and second time he took even Arian Arian was so small I told nag go ahead handle it you know it's fine because I needed some time to think right so I think those are some of the pluses I would say which really we did probably you know it worked out in a night nice way so for me it was always that if I am in the US then my child would do the undergrad in the US if I'm not in the US he will only do his Masters in the US because I was very clear that when my child does the undergrad and I am a proponent of the children going to going and studying in the hostel same thing with nages I studied in a hostel you know because my dad was very clear you grow in the comfort of the house you will not be able to manage learn a lot of things yeah so I was like but yes hostel is

31 Fine but not outside India if I am in India my child will be in India you know for for till he crosses so that was something in my mind so then you know that was the time when the transition actually had to happen so I told nages please figure out it is like you know you're going to do your own life figure out how things can come back I said I'm going to figure out how it is going to be because for me it was like I'd already unlearned everything America because in in working in the IT industry in India it is about management okay especially after you have like you know 10 plus years of experience right in the US it is not like that you can always be a single player okay you can always contribute okay in a single thing but in India it is like oh hey how big is your project you know your project financials matter so it was totally totally you know giving up something and then learning something so I told nages now I'm all into this now you want me to fully change

31 My come back there so I said first thing is I'm not going to come back if I don't have an opportunity you know I mean I very clear because you know it's it's going to really be a big struggle then then we told an arria I mean between both my kids the younger one is very upfront you know he will tell him he'll tell Mommy this is not the way you know but the Yer one is like he'll put it in a very soft way because it's like he's like I want to do my engineering in the US but it's okay you know let me understand you know so for him it was like but one thing he made it very clear he said that you know get me into a program where I can actually carry my credits to The us at some point which we thought is a good one because we really don't know you know because we are here we are there we want to be Global Citizens you know more the options more the he you know no more the headache right because you don't know you know it's like hey mahab it's it's nice there also it's good so we said okay you get into a program where you can kind of

32 Move your credits right because Daddy's situation is like he's there and for us the biggest plus was you know we had citizenship and we knew we could get in getting into the com back to the US was easier is easier because you know the schools especially you know forget about Atria right the younger one because he's now getting into schools right and in the US it's like you get into a good place the school is like you know they will welcome you they will basically it's it's not a big issue you know you just get into them they very defined process so we were like okay that was a time he said okay I'll go redo my business rej juggle everything and then you decide what you want to do let's give one year time and then we do that on that front for me again transition back to the US also was pretty straightforward because my company IDE on what operational thanks to my fellow colleagues here my other director I had brought World they had fabulously maintained so for me coming back was

34 Easy I came alone in again 2013 2013 October and there again both of us started missing each other not an easy thing for having set up our life so much and again she's staying in India and I'm here me missing kids kids missing me it had its own challenges then but as rangan mentioned about Atria had joined a program called as iast in manipal which is in Karnataka there they had this program wherein at any given time either after one year or after two years you can take the credit and go to universities in the US which is exactly what happened to us so this is where so maybe one quick question for for arra like is there any intention in specific on a curriculum that you selected for him like in the school just curious I know you mentioned about DPS I don't know if you had the options with IB or igc or cbsc or you know just

36 Curious what was your thought process I'm assuming when you move to India you might have have planned to be there for a long time not like you know have the plans to go back so just curious like what were your thought process what were the thought process about undergrad for him especially you know just curious if you can share any insights on that sure so there on that front yes we did not put him in an IB Program then we put him review on the IB program we did but we put him in cbsc which became reasonably straightforward at DPS which helped and subsequently his 11th and 12th that is we call it as pu back in India we put him in a state level we felt no we did like a combination of state and what is that the IIT programs right so you basically have this place within you see because being in Karnataka we were like you know there are very good colleges in Surat and everything because you know the good engineering colleges so we wanted him to

39 Participate in Rec's and everything and also he he wanted to basically you know write exams for bits you know and IIT so his was like you know and then he he he literally took up 13 exams so you know I remember that very well yeah it's thanks to mom she pushed poor girl she used to get up 4 in the morning with him to ensure that he prepares for all these exams whereas I'm a little relaxed dad I I give all the pat on the back both to rangan and Atria yes they toile themselves so yeah because it's see it's it's it's and for him it was it is not it is not easy I mean I mean to be very honest you know all of us have to put this extra effort right I mean if you want to basically you know be somewhere so it went through a big grind for for him also in terms of because when before we actually came we we wanted to look at IB we had certain thing saying that oh if it is IB then it it's 100% that he's going to

40 Come back here yeah you know because generally the the mentality of people who put them into full IB is like they're very clear because they take their SATs you know they don't even bother about taking any of these other things but we were very uncertain we were like here and there so one thing is we kind of ruled out IB we said okay you know it's really not worth it you know let's let's see how we want to do it you know so that's when we said okay cbsc is good standards are good they understand it and everything and there was also this ICC right which is other other part of it because Atri had a lot of friends from icsc which is very interesting you know the in the neighborhood where we were yeah yeah and and interesting conversations between cbsc and ICC so that is a big good thing right great learning great learning what actually happened so but he went through this grind and then he was clear I mean at some point in time he was like I want to do my engineering which is Aerospace I mean his he was stuck in

41 Aerospace right so we were like going back and forth and we were like okay it was space you know a lot of cles and doing this and all and I remember this because you know the minute it comes to engineering you know all these things my dad you know we we have a good family conversation because we're all as I said faculty of Engineers right so I think one of the biggest things what my dad was saying is that well you can try to do your Aerospace but I think it's better we all felt you should have a base engineering you know Aerospace is a small streamline one subset of it so why don't you focus start with mechanical engineering right and that's when he was like okay let me try to understand what basically comes in and that one thing propelled him to get into the mechanical engineer ing thing where manipal could offer that you know and and I remember manipal had a very first year was a little bit Universal I would say other Branch more or less the curriculum matched with International standards

41 Like us engineering schools and such yeah so that was one thing which kind of pushed him to get into engineering because his bent of mind because see as parents nages and me we believe in you know giving children what they want to basically basically Aspire for you know we don't want to push them right because that's the biggest learning when you come to the US you know because like back in India you know because we were all from a you know a family which was Engineers we were we got into engineering right but at the end of it it was like no one just told us okay you have to do this but one thing which was very clear is you have to study you have to be on your own that was very clear how you want to do it what you want to do is entirely dependent on right so the same philosophy with both of us we don't want to push but at the end of it yes you know you have to have a good career you know you you have to basically do something nice for yourself pick your choice yeah on that note I don't know if you have prolonged too

43 Much aash we love telling stories we love sharing our Journey it's already what more than 1 hour 12 minutes we have all the time no I think you know I mean I wasn't trying to rush because there's a lot lot of insights lot of beautiful tidbits and that's a beautiful story even if it's going to be two parts I just want to capture all these insights this is lot of valuable information for somebody who is thinking who has gone through who has seen right I mean this is not something that happened recently we are kind of taking a little bit story you know few decades back where there is no internet toptops to like an education and then the kids going through this education where they did their Elementary in US did the primary you know started some engineering and then kind of going back and there are lot of these things people can correlate to because somebody who is moving right now with kids who are in the young age they have to think about these things and these stories are not easily available because you know there are only few people who might have done

44 That and who are willing to share you might see a lot more people moving in 2005 2010 who are not at the same stage so definitely finding people who has done this in 1995 1998 there's a lot of information that people people can correlate to or what they can expect in the future so I don't want to rush it out so if you're willing to share I want to capture the information and make it as a you know multiple parts so you know that no no we are happy again as rangan already started off saying that like we enjoy talking we enjoy sharing our stories not just to what you call bore people we don't want to bore but it is good to share because we in the process would also like to learn from other fellow what you call who have moved or done as I was mentioning when we moved back to India we did not have these kind of references to go back or fall back on but that's exactly why I enjoy sharing these yeah and all along we have been lucky that like everything worked out in our favor yeah thank you very if

45 You want us to continue we don't mind the next aspects if if that's okay yeah so thank you very much maybe there is one little question that I want to confirm there I know you have decided to put arrea in cbsc but just curious on the language this is another thing that comes to people's mind right so just wondering how he adjusted to that like especially because I know for Canada or Hindi you know especially coming in joining at a sixth grade you know there's a lot to catch up you know from a Reading Writing and so on so anything that you can recollect or anything that you can share and then I know you'll go on I'll also share yes now language wise we his third language was Hindi where a second language luckily CBS gave us an option either to do French Spanish or German which he had already done here he had already in French is what he took and third language being Hindi he struggled no doubt yeah he struggled go on yeah yeah no no no go ahead go ahead no no he he he struggled so it was

47 Especially initial things and and see we never being in the US I mean we taught him a little bit you know we we speak Canada and Tamil and everything at home right and of course I love to listen to Hindi music we also watch a lot of Hindi stuff so but we never you know wanted to emphasize that Atria learns something right but in the background we always used to have this music play and it would help him like you know Hindi he he kind of understood okay basic like you know talking Hindi but never like writing Hindi right so we put him into tutions he had he struggled a lot poor kid you know for three years because it was quite tough you know cbsc has a higher standard of Hindi right it's not the simple thing but he he kind of he put in a lot of effort through the whole thing for Hindi thing and we had put him into two tutions I remember and then he cleared but another thing what I want to also say is about the French tutions right oh boy oh my God

50 You know colloquial because fr also so it was it was basically you know to that level right you want to basically narrate a passage in French it was not about is there internet on it says unstable are you okay I'm okay yeah yeah I can yeah sure go so so for French I think I remember and there were no teachers for him you know local to to the place where we used to stay we had to send him for almost one and a half hours away from our home for him to basically get his friendch shed and because there was a vaa there was a vocal French exam as well as a writing exam so it is all about how we going to talk in French so you know which you couldn't get it and there were only few teachers in Bangalore who could basically Converse that so we went

53 Through a big grind for the language more than we it is went through he poor kid I remember he used to one big thing was we had a great person who could drive him right I mean thanks to the person who could really be with Atria because we couldn't spend that time because we used to be in the office right but this kid used to travel one and a half to two hours to reach that place each each way each way okay and then learn everything and then again come back in the evenings when you used to come back you used to almost be a sleep you know but great person we had you know the driver and then he used to take care of him and then Mommy I'm just slept off mommy I was asking what did you learn it's okay okay but he he learned a lot teacher no he he managed yeah he managed quite well you know with with the with the two things yeah he has a lot of resilience and he kept it it and yeah you know he learned very much yeah so taking back to the story

55 So I think you left back to us in 2013 to you know continue with your business and so you were considering about moving so you made the decision in 2014 and join nages yeah yeah yeah 2014 moved in July July and and and and we should tell you so he was in the Bay Area I was in California so the question was hey should we actually move back to Bay Area or where in the US you know because us is so big and one thing is okay first thing the first thing was okay moving back to the US that is now certain because it has been one year you know for 2014 and by that time Atria was in he was doing his first year engineering and for him it was like okay you guys are going to move back Daddy is already there then I will decide because either in the first year or the second year I will certainly take a transfer okay because Mommy if you guys are all going to be back the question is where to move where when where when how and

57 Everything so that's when I was like nages was like okay since he has a company he the that's a flexibility I could operate from anywhere I could operate from though I went to our headquarters in California I kept insisting rangan that like hey I know I've troubled you this is one last time so you can decide where where do you think so we we kind of huddled up we we did a little bit of brainstorming and this is very important right as a family we do a lot of talking lot of thinking U you know talking about various things and everything as a family then from the office I was I used to tell nages okay see these are the clients and for me by that time the interest in banking and Investments yeah Insurance banking Capital markets right along with data was like a big thing you know because this was something like which I which I loved and I was like always in the data and analytics field so I was like U so I was like I'm not more a person who would sit down and

59 Do the engineering part of it but I would love to understand the functional aspects right and what a place other than you know coming to New York right to basically you know come back and then start that's why I said okay I think probably the best place would be New Jersey New York no but again there is a story behind that like how Silicon Valley Bank offered her to go back to Bangalore and then continue she wanted to put on her papers at M tree and then she said that my husband is already in the US I have to join her join him so they said please don't quit we are looking for somebody someone who can actually manage the account which is in New York New Jersey area are you okay come back so that was one of the options or opportunities for her to think about coming for me it didn't matter whether it is timbuk to or anywhere you could have done it this as long as she and kids come and join that was a very big class yeah you're right there again I did one notorious thing I must share before rangan joined in between

00 During Kids vacation that is my little boy aran's vacation I visited Bangalore having come to us visited Bangalore and he obviously my little one was missing me big time whereas the old one Atria was busy in college though he probably would have missed me I wanted him to I don't know whereas the little one he kept saying that like Daddy please take me to the US I thought it can't be better carried than this if I take Arian she would automatically follow but for me that was a big plus you know why I'll tell you know because I told nag now you handle the younger one right so now I have all the Mind peace of mind and the freedom to think about only my career right because ATA is already there you're taking care of Arian you have your work going on I took him in the the us back in I think March April 2014 2014 yeah and even earlier than that around that around that so I know though she said

03 Yeah I'll be a free bird because Ango and Aran was very very demanding child unlike ATA he he really made her go Pillar To Post ensured that like mom is always available being a career woman plus a great mom a great hous maker her time actually got stretched everywhere whether at work because it job is not easy it is so much to do but again being a homemaker too rather take care of home plus be around Arian without me being around it was a huge stretch stretch for her I used to feel guilty and bad about it but that reason I also wanted to take him and I thought indirectly it will be it works in a different it will be an enticing factor for her to consider coming back so I took him and our man enjoyed all the fun with that because every weekend I used to take him to one place whether it is Lake Tahoe or the amusement parks to the best of best eating joints he said dad

05 Is cool so for me that was the easy way out to handle him and to our luck the child changed so much coming to the US either he thought let me not trouble my dad much he was extremely accommodative whatever I fed though of course we are all Great Cooks together whatever I fed he without making noise he enjoyed but I'm sure inside he was missing his mom I ensured that whenever I had free time take him either to movies the amusement parks or all the fun places but again every time we used to talk to her by then thankfully the whatsapps were pretty convenient we used to talk almost on a daily basis I don't know how effective our video conations started 2014 videos it and when again rangan had enough transition time for her to consider talk to her employers and that's when mry made an offer that you go to New Jersey

07 We jumped at it both my little boy and then me yes rangan wherever you want to come I will see to it that like I'll establish a place and for us we had not lived in an apartment kind of setup having not bought a house again back in the US came to New Jersey before she came we had already picked up apartment but we short lived there in that apartment bought another house in New Jersey that's the story yeah I want to just tell you one thing right so this was a great it was a very different moment you know in you just go back and see that when I came back just came back with two suitcases you know just two suitcases so it actually tells you in life right I mean how quickly you have to probably downsize upsize you know it's that that's goes back to you know nothing is kind of permanent you know in in your whole thing so I was just telling nag I mean in fact recently we were just talking we like my god nages when we came back 2014 literally because

07 I remember my friends helping and and I just want to give you a little bit of more details because as a in in in the place where we used to stay we had great friends right so we were I think as a couple we were the first ones to decide to do the rivers from India to the and believe me we have all the whole friends who come back now back to the US the whole gang who were in Bangalore they're all they all back in the US so you know we were like and I remember that day I I still can remember so where I was like you know inside upstairs in my room and all my friends you know they came and they rang and you know what will you carry what will you carry you know I mean two suitcases what will you carry back here I mean you have such a big home you've lived for eight years you know what will you carry you have to basically carry very simple things right because you have to start your life all over again so I was like okay I I still remember you know just get some things

07 You know some stuff and then push it and then all my friends helping me just you know pack everything and then starting so that's when it hit me I was like okay and then you start an apartment life you know it's no longer like you know you have like a huge house wherein you put everything around and then you can look around and the children have to start totally different but one son is in India now you know now it's like now it is for him to decide what he wants to do because now he's at we started giving him that thing you know you make a decision but you work with your decision because we all made decisions some things was very perfect but some things was not good but we made sure that we put things together and we work through it and that's very important we tell our kids today also we will not decide anything for you you we just give you all the inat and that's exactly what US I mean see one thing what we also learned in the US is like you get all the freedom to do everything what you want to do but tomorrow you make a decision stand by it you know don't come back to the parents or don't

09 Come back and say oh you know you made this for me no no no no so that's exactly what we told him now you decide you know you you know you're not doing it so for us it was like a matter of adjustment you know it's not easy coming back and we were like okay New Jersey apartment life and of course aran's transition was very simple for him school was easy he still in what he was just in third grade second thir third grade second or third grade yeah so he was okay and there also we changed two schools for him so this is somewhere you know we are like okay making sure that the children also adjust right it's like okay you in in the process you learn a lot as I already told you earlier during initial discussion kids and us we all become robust with all these changes though not easy but it can be what do you call it is possible it can be achieved so again sorry oh beautifully said about you know the robust right I mean the

10 Changes and the you know the challenges make you much more stronger right I think yeah I very much absolutely and having said rangan joined me within one week I remember actually AR Atria calling us saying that I already found a transfer to Penn State within one week he got the decision made yeah he got the transfer though idea was to stay in manipal for 2 years he took a transfer came here oh yeah our man didn't look back he became the university topper having come yeah but that's thanks to education right I mean see that's where the pluses of some things work right so in India even though you know it's a grind I mean whatever it in mathematics is like you know you probably at some point in time you sit back and then analyze the Practical applications of these things maybe that is not there but today thanks to like you know Googles of the world and U you know all the other things wherein they tell you okay why do you want to do calus you know because you're going to be basically using calus for

11 This practical application you can find those things today right but the concepts are so well ingrained in India especially that one year for Atria it helped a lot it helped him so much that he came back here and he was mentoring students which actually worked to his plus you know because especially when you Mentor people your things becomes very solid right because you are coaching people right so you want to be 100% perfect right and when you are coaching someone you understand so he was like and he loved to Mentor in fact he did so much of tution classes he did he was like he was amazing he was like oh mommy you know this is a breeze thing for me here so it was like okay so good you know so that way I think it it it helped him you know the pluses of moving back I think both ways okay that's
